Our Commitment to Sustainability and Climate Education
At Firs Primary School, we care about environmental issues and we work together to actively protect our planet. Our small actions will have a big impact.
Climate education is at the centre of what we do. We are committed to providing opportunities for our children to develop a broad knowledge and understanding of the importance of nature, sustainability and the causes and impact of climate change and to use and apply this knowledge into positive action and solutions.
We encourage our children to use natural light and heat, where possible, to conserve energy and to take responsibility for their environment through initiatives and events such as litter-picking, recycling and growing vegetables.
Our Green Team play an important role in championing our work and lead by example. They drive our sustainability plan and encourage everyone to make Firs Primary School and the wider world a greener place.
We work closely with parents, carers and the wider community. Our pupils share their passion about the natural world, their knowledge about protection and strive to influence their communities by making small adjustments that have a big impact.
We are currently working towards our Eco-Schools Green Flag Award and we are involved with National Education Nature Park.
