Deaf Awareness Week May 2024

Deaf Awareness Week (6th – 12th May) was created by the UK Council on Deafness to increase the visibility of challenges that deaf people face and educate others on how they can support them.

As part of our approach to securing the best personal development for our pupils and in line with our work towards being a Gold Rights Respecting School, we held assemblies for all children around the importance of Deaf Awareness Week. We focused on what it actually means to recognise a protected characteristic in our every day lives.

Having staff that have a hearing impairment working with our children every day makes this an crucial issue for us as a school. It forms part of our work as a Trust on Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.
